Amit Khanna
Amit Khanna is the Chairman of Reliance Entertainment, Director of Reliance BIG TV & BIG Cinemas, a part of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group.
He started his film career as an Executive Producer with Actor – Producer, Dev Anand's“NAV KETAN” in 1971. In 1980, he produced his first feature film “MAN PASAND".In the Eighties, he wrote and directed critically acclaimed films "SHEESHAY KA GHAR" and "SHESH" and several documentaries. He has written lyrics for 400 film & non-film songs including many all-time hits as well as a dozen feature film scripts which include award winning films like SAARANSH. He also directed India’s first music video with Nazia and Zoeb Hassan in 1984. He pioneered Business News on Indian Television.
One of the first independent Producers of TV programming in India, Amit Khanna, set up PLUS CHANNEL in 1990, India's first entertainment conglomerate where he produced 10 feature films, over 3000 hours of original TV programmingand over 1000 music albums in various genres and languages.
Born (01.03.1951) and educated in Delhi (St. Columba's & St. Stephen's), Amit Khanna has been involved with media since school. He has worked in Theatre, Radio, Television, Journalism, Films and new Media. He is a pioneer in the Converged Media space. He is a Chairman - Convergence Committee of FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry). He is a Member – Prime Minister’s Committee on Information, Communication & Entertainment (ICE), and Member - CII’s Entertainment & Media Committee. He is the President – Earth Communications Office (an Environment - NGO). He was the President - All India Film Producers Council, Film & Television Producers Guild of India Ltd., for three terms and Vice President of Association of Motion Picture & TV Program Producers for 17 years. He has been on the Governing Councils of the Film Institutes in both Pune & Kolkatta. He was the first Indian to serve on the international Emmy’s Jury. He has also been on the Jury of film festivals. Besides serving on various International, Government and Trade organizations, and Institutions, he has won several national and international awards and regularly speaks at International conferences.
